📌In Fort Portal City, the fuel shortage has seen the cost of petrol up to Shs5,500 per litre. Out of 14 fuel stations, only two still have some in their reserves.

📌Education authorities in Rakai District are puzzled after receiving information that at least 100 female teachers in various primary schools are pregnant and cannot teach.

The school term officially opened last Monday after two years of school lockdown occasioned by Covid-19 pandemic.

🇺🇬Fuel crisis in Uganda over build-up at border

📌Uganda is undergoing a fuel crisis following a build-up of fuel transporters at the major border points of Malaba and Busia in the east of the country.

📌Queues of waiting trucks, as long as 70km (43 miles), have been reported.

📌Truck drivers in the region have been protesting against a requirement by the Ugandan government that they test for Covid-19 at the border points, regardless of whether they presented a negative PCR test or not.

📌The directive to test at the border was issued at the start of the month. Uganda later suspended it but there was already a build-up of trucks at the border points.

📌The country imports all its fuel and other petroleum products and consumes about 6.5m litres (1.7m gallons) a day.

📌Police in Rwenzori also foiled students' plan to burn the university at Mountains of the Moon University. 

📌At Bukalasa Agricultural College, students burnt the principal's office. The fire was put off. The students are in custody. 

📌In Lira, a food supplier had hired goons to set a school on fire because his money wasn't paid.

🇺🇬James Akabwai, a former head teacher at Ngora High School and Teso College Aloet has died.

Akabwai,73, died this morning at Soroti regional referral hospital, his daughter Alice Ikara said.
