TEACHING ON PASSOVER AND HOLY COMMUNION
HOLY COMMUNION
Deutronomy 29:29 The
secret things belong to Jehovah our God, but the revealed things belong
to us and to our sons forever, so that we may do all the words of this Law.
Heb 5:12 For indeed because of the time, you ought to
be teachers, you have need that one teach you again what are the first
principles of the oracles of God. And you have become in need of milk,
and not of solid food.
Heb 5:13 For everyone
partaking of milk is unskillful in the Word of Righteousness, for
he is an infant.
Heb 5:14 But solid food
belongs to those who are of full age, even those who because of use have
their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Matthew 28:19 Therefore
go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Mat 28:20 teaching them
to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all
the days until the end of the world. Amen.
INTRODUCTION:
Psa11:3 If the foundations
be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
1Co 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that
is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Eph2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and
foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; :20And
are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ
himself being the chief corner stone; :21 In whom all the building fitly framed
together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: :22 In whom ye also are builded together for an
habitation of God through the Spirit.
2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth
sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one
that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Heb 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the
doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the
foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, :2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on
of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. :3And this will we do, if God permit.
:4 For it is impossible for those
who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made
partakers of the Holy Ghost, :5 And have
tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, :6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again
unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and
put him to an open shame.
TO THE BASICS OF HOL
COMMUNION:
Mat 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto
them, ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
TO GAIN A FULL UNDERSTANDING
OF BASIC PRINCIPLES OF THE DOCTRINE OF CHRIST YOU NEED TO OBEY MAT22:29 AND 2Ti
3:15 And that from a child thou hast
known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation
through faith which is in Christ Jesus. :16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness: :17 That the man of God
may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
The
first Passover:
The
first holy communion service was on Passover: so what is Passover?
The passover: This word comes from the Hebrew verb
pasach, to pass, to leap or skip over. The destroying angel passed over the
houses marked with the blood of the Paschal Lamb, so the wrath of God passes
over those whose souls sprinkled with the blood of Christ.[1Co 5:7
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are
unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: :8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old
leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the
unleavened bread of sincerity
and truth.]. As the paschal lamb was killed before Israel was
delivered, so by the death of Christ, we have redemption through his blood. It
was killed before the tables of the law were delivered to Moses, or Aaron's
sacrifices were enjoined; thus deliverance comes to men, not by the works of
the law, but by the only true passover, the Lamb of God. [Rom 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through
the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: :25
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his
blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past,
through the forbearance of God; :26 To
declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just,
and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. ].
Heb_9:14[Heb
9:11 But Christ being come an high
priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not
made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; :12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but
by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained
eternal redemption for us. :13
For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer
sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: :14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through
the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience
from dead works to serve the living God? :15
And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by
means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under
the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal
inheritance. :16 For where a testament is,
there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. :17 For a testament is of force after men
are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
:18 Whereupon neither the first testament
was dedicated without blood. :19 For
when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he
took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and
hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, :20 Saying, This is the blood of the
testament which God hath enjoined unto you. :21
Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the
vessels of the ministry. :22 And almost
all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is
no remission. :23 It was
therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be
purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices
than these. :24 For Christ is not
entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of
the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
:25 Nor yet that he should offer himself
often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of
others; :26 For then must he often have
suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the
world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. :27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die,
but after this the judgment: :28 So
Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him
shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. ].
It
was killed the first month of the year, which prefigured that Christ should
suffer death in that month. Joh_18:28[Joh 18:28 Then led they
Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they
themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but
that they might eat the passover. ].
Joh 18:13 And led him away to Annas first; for he was
father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year. :14 Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to
the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
it
was killed in the evening. Exo_12:6[Exo12:1
And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
Exo12:2 This month shall be unto you the
beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Exo12:3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel,
saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man
a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
Exo
12:4 And if the household be too little
for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it
according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall
make your count for the lamb.
Exo12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a
male of the first year: ye shall take it
out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Exo12:6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth
day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel
shall kill it in the evening.
Exo12:7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it
on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they
shall eat it.
Exo12:8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night,
roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they
shall eat it.
Exo12:9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with
water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the
purtenance thereof.
Exo12:10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until
the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn
with fire.
Exo12:11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your
loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye
shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover.
Exo
12:12 For I will pass through the land
of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt,
both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment:
I am the LORD.
Exo12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token
upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over
you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite
the land of Egypt.
Exo12:14 And this day shall be unto you for a
memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations;
ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
Exo12:15 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread;
even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever
eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall
be cut off from Israel.
Exo
12:16 And in the first day there
shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy
convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that
which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.
Exo12:17 And ye shall observe the feast of
unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of
the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by
an ordinance for ever.
Exo12:18 In the first month, on the fourteenth
day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and
twentieth day of the month at even.
Exo
12:19 Seven days shall there be no
leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even
that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a
stranger, or born in the land.
Exo12:20 Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your
habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.
Exo12:21 Then Moses called for all the elders of
Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your
families, and kill the passover.
Exo
12:22 And ye shall take a bunch of
hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike
the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason;
and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
Exo
12:23 For the LORD will pass through to
smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the
two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the
destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
Exo12:24 And ye shall observe this thing for an
ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.
Exo
12:25 And it shall come to pass, when ye
be come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as he hath
promised, that ye shall keep this service.
Exo12:26 And it shall come to pass, when your children
shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?
Exo12:27 That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice
of the LORD'S passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in
Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people
bowed the head and worshipped.
Exo12:28 And the children of Israel went away, and did
as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.
Exo
12:29 And it came to pass, that at
midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the
firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive
that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.
Exo12:30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all
his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there
was not a house where there was not one dead.
Exo
12:31 And he called for Moses and Aaron
by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people,
both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.
Exo12:32 Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye
have said, and be gone; and bless me also.
Exo
12:33 And the Egyptians were urgent upon
the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said,
We be all dead men.
Exo12:34 And the people took their dough before it was
leavened, their kneadingtroughs being bound up in their clothes upon their
shoulders.
Exo12:35 And the children of Israel did according to
the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and
jewels of gold, and raiment:
Exo12:36 And the LORD gave the people favour in the
sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they
required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.
Exo12:37 And the children of Israel journeyed from
Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men,
beside children.
Exo12:38 And a mixed multitude went up also with them;
and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.
Exo
12:39 And they baked unleavened cakes of
the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt, for it was not leavened;
because they were thrust out of Egypt, and could not tarry, neither had they
prepared for themselves any victual.
Exo12:40 Now the sojourning of the children of Israel,
who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.
Exo
12:41 And it came to pass at the end of
the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that
all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.
Exo12:42 Itis a night to be much observed unto
the LORD for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that
night of the LORD to be observed of all the children of Israel in their
generations.
Exo12:43 And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron, This is
the ordinance of the passover: There shall no stranger eat thereof:
Exo12:44 But every man's servant that is bought for
money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof.
Exo12:45 A foreigner and an hired servant shall not
eat thereof.
Exo12:46 In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt
not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye
break a bone thereof.
Exo12:47 All the congregation of Israel shall keep it.
Exo
12:48 And when a stranger shall sojourn
with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be
circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one
that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.
Exo12:49 One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and
unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.
Exo12:50 Thus did all the children of Israel; as the
LORD commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.
Exo12:51 And it came to pass the selfsame day, that
the LORD did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their
armies. ].
Christ suffered at that time of the day. Mat_27:46[Mat
27:45 Now from the sixth hour there was
darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. :46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a
loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God,
why hast thou forsaken me? ]. Heb_1:2[Heb 1:1 God, who at sundry
times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the
prophets, :2 Hath in these last days
spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by
whom also he made the worlds; :3 Who
being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person,
and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself
purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; ]. At
even the sun sets; at Christ's passion, universal darkness was upon the whole
earth. The passover was roasted with fire, denoting the sharp and dreadful
pains that Christ should suffer, not only from men, but God also. It was to be
eaten with bitter herbs, Exo_12:8[Exo 12:8
And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and
unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. ];
not only to put them in remembrance of their bitter bondage in Egypt, but also
to testify our mortification to sin, and readiness to undergo afflictions for
Christ, Col_1:24[Col 1:20 And, having
made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto
himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or
things in heaven. :21 And you, that were
sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now
hath he reconciled :22 In the body of his flesh through death, to
present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: :23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and
settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye
have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under
heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister; :24
Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is
behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is
the church: :25 Whereof I am made a
minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to
fulfil the word of God; :26 Even
the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made
manifest to his saints: :27 To whom God
would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among
the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: :28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and
teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in
Christ Jesus: :29 Whereunto I also
labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily. ];
and
likewise to teach us the absolute necessity of true repentance in all that
would profitably feed by faith on Christ, the true paschal lamb.
HOLY
COMMUNION INSTITUTION:
.]
MY VIEW WHY:
1Pe
2:9 But ye are a chosen
generation, a royal priesthood. Holy communion is not restricted to only be
offered by the clergy but any born again Christian who acknowledges and
understands the price that was paid[1Cor6:20] and what Holy communion means is
at liberty received from Christ and not from men to administer it according to
1Cor10:14-33,11:17-34sthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should
shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his
marvellous light:
Rev
1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is
the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince
of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins
in his own blood, :6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God
and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Rev
5:9 And they sung a new song, saying,
Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast
slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and
tongue, and people, and nation; :10 And
hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
Rev
20:6 Blessed and holy is he that
hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power,
but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a
thousand years.
[1Co 10:14
Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. :15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
:16 The cup of blessing which we bless,
is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it
not the communion of the body of Christ? :17
For we being many are
one bread, and one body: for we
are all partakers of that one bread.:18
Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices
partakers of the altar? :19 What say I
then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to
idols is any thing? :20 But I say, that the things which the
Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not
that ye should have fellowship with devils. :21Ye cannot drink the cup of
the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table,
and of the table of devils. :22 Do
we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he? :23All things are
lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me,
but all things edify not.:24 Let no
man seek his own, but every man another's wealth. :25 Whatsoever is
sold in the shambles, that eat,
asking no question for conscience sake: :26
For the earth is the
Lord's, and the fulness thereof. :27 If
any of them that believe not bid you to
a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat,
asking no question for conscience sake. :28
But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols,
eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness
thereof: :29 Conscience, I say, not
thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience? :30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I
evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? :31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or
whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. :32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor
to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: :33
Even as I please all men
in all things, not seeking mine
own profit, but the profit of
many, that they may be saved. ] [1Co
11:17 Now in this that I declare unto
you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but
for the worse. :18 For first of all,
when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you;
and I partly believe it. :19 For there
must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made
manifest among you. :20 When ye come
together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's
supper.:21 For in eating every one
taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is
drunken. :22 What? have ye not
houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them
that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you
not. :23 For I have received of the
Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same
night in which he was betrayed took bread: :24
And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat:
this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped,
saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye
drink it, in remembrance of me.
:26 For as often as ye eat this bread,
and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. :27Wherefore
whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord,
unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. :28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him
eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily,
eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. :30 For this cause many are weak and
sickly among you, and many sleep.:31For if we would judge ourselves, we
should not be judged. :32 But when we
are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with
the world. :33 Wherefore, my brethren,
when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.:34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home;
that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order
when I come. ]
ORIGINALLY:
Mat
26:17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the
disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare
for thee to eat the passover? :26And
as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it,
and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
:27 And he took the cup, and gave
thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; :28 For this is my blood of the new testament,
which is shed for many for the remission of sins. :29 But I say unto you, I will not drink
henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with
you in my Father's kingdom.
ORDINATION
OF FIRST COVENANT:
Exo24:1 And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the
LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel;
and worship ye afar off. :2 And Moses
alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the
people go up with him. :3 And Moses came
and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all
the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath
said will we do. :4 And Moses wrote all
the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar
under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
:5 And he sent young men of the children
of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of
oxen unto the LORD. :6And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in
basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.:7And he took
the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they
said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient. :8
And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and
said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you
concerning all these words.
THE
CHURCH BUILT UPON FOUNDATIONS OF APOSTLES:
Act
2:41 Then they that gladly received his
word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about
three thousand souls. :42 And they
continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in
breaking of bread, and in prayers. :43
And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by
the apostles. :44 And all that believed
were together, and had all things common; :45
And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men,
as every man had need. :46 And they,
continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house
to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
:47 Praising God, and having favour with
all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
Act 20:7And upon the first day
of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to
depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. :8 And there were many lights in the upper
chamber, where they were gathered together. :9
And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being
fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with
sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. :10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and
embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him. :11When
he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a
long while, even till break of day, so he departed.
